He left MASS in 1813 and headed to Andover Ohio. He Arrived by year 1816 for the lands held in the Western Reserve of Ohio held a tax for his land. He died about the year 1834-1835 according to land or Plat tax records for Andover & Ashtabula Townships.
All of their children were baptized in Chester Congregational Church In MA.
I descend from Reuben Bates Jr. Who Stayed in NEW ENGLAND and did not ever move with his parents out West to Ohio.

"Reuben Bates, Benjamin Carpenter and Alba Coleman emigrated with their families from Chester, Mass. It rained hard on their arrival and the mothers sat on the logs and held their children in their arms all night, with bears, wolves and wild cats, HOWLING A WELCOME."
My Line, Son Reuben Bates Jr. was first found in several Berkshire, MA Census's. He moved to Canaan, New York after his wife's death and he died there. He married Lucretia Fleming, daughter of William Flamon/Fleming/Flemming and Nancy Williams of Richmond, MA. Nancy is daughter of Thomas Williams and Mehittabel Williams. William Fleming is believed to be son of Joseph Flemming Jr. of Palmer, MA and Widow Abigail Flemming who died in West Stockbridge MA. Widow after her husband died, she is in the 1790 West Stockbridge Census! Seeking Parentage of His Father to find my Original Ancestor of my Bates Line.
