--Son of Fillmore and Georgia Honeycutt Sawyer.
--Spanish-American War Veteran; U.S. Army.
--He married Alice Lillian Jones in 1904; they had 10 children: 1. Emma Lee, 2. Nell Ruth, 3. & 4. twins Roma McKinley and Oma Lillian, 5. Otho Carl, 6. Dortha L. (who died of hydrocephalus in 1921 at age 6), 7. Mabel Fern, 8. Edward Samuel, 9. Mary Elizabeth, and 10. Iris Stella Sawyer.
--Occupation: Textile worker in 1910 and 1920. He was the Manager of a service station in 1930.
--He died at the V.A. hospital in Columbia, SC.

--Note: some records list his name as Jesse McKinley Sawyer.
--Note: per his great-grandson-in-law, the military headstone is off by 2 years. He was born in 1881. In 1879 his father was married to a first wife who died that year after giving birth to a daughter. I suspect Jesse lied about his age to get into the army in the Spanish-American War. He would have been only 17 and probably claimed to be 19 to be admitted into the service.
