OTTERBEIN - Vera Rose Brand Shuster, 83, died at 2:30 PM Tuesday, May 15, 2001, in her Otterbein residence, following 18 months of ill-health. Born Oct. 28, 1917, in Tippecanoe County, she was a graduate of Dayton High School. She was married to Leon Shuster on January 5, 1941; he died Aug. 30. 1973.

Mrs. Shuster attended Lafayette Business College and had lived the Otterbein area since 1943. She was an administrative secretary at the residence hall administration building at Purdue University for 17 years, retiring in 1983. She was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.

Surviving are a daughter, Carolyn Watson (husband Lewis) of Otterbein; a son, Larry Shuster of Otterbein; a brother, Earl Brand of Dayton, IN; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
