Rogersville: Mary Ada Price Ward Lipe, age 89 of Rogersville, died peacefully on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at her residence surrounded by her family. Ada was a native of Hawkins County where she resided her entire life. She was born on August 28, 1922 to the late Samuel Porter Price and Sallie Mae Shanks Price. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Walter Douglas Ward and second husband, Mack Lipe; brother Miller Price; brothers and sisters-in-law, Chester and Ruth Russell Price and Eldridge and Minnie Williams Price. Ada accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at an early age at Choptack Baptist Church. She was an active and faithful member of Choptack Church where she taught Sunday School, vacation Bible School and served in the WMU in various capacities. After relocating from the Choptack community to Rogersville in the 1960's she joined East Rogersville Baptist Church where she continued her service to the Lord. Ada enjoyed the fellowship of her church family and remained active in church activities as long as her health permitted. Ada was a licensed Practical Nurse and spent her entire career at Hawkins County Memorial Hospital. She retired at age 75 after 40 plus years of service. Even then, she returned to work on an as needed basis until age 80 when her health forced her second retirement. She loved caring for her patients and was delighted when, even years later, a former patient mentioned how much they appreciated the extra special care she provided. Throughout her life , she devoted herself to God, family, friends and her patients. She enjoyed cooking, knitting, quilting and playing cards with her family. In her later years, she loved all her great grandchildren who brought much joy to her life. She was also an animal lover who could always find room for "one more cat".

Survivors include her daughter, Mary Douglas Muse and husband, Charles of Jonesborough; two grandsons, Steven Sizemore of Rogersville, who was her primary caregiver and Mark Sizemore and wife, Sandy of King George, VA; two great grandchildren, Emily Ann Sizemore and Ian Douglas Sizemore; step grandchildren, Chris Muse and wife, Sandra and Pamela Muse all of Johnson City; step great grandchildren, Devon Muse and Gavin Muse of Jonesborough and Haley Hoff of Roanoke, VA; several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. Saturday, May 19, 2012 at East Rogersville Baptist Church.

Funeral service will be conducted at 4:00 P.M. Saturday, May 19, 2012 at East Rogersville Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Owenby and Rev. John R. Parrott, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.
