Mrs. Eva (Burkhardt) Nemanick, 75, of 1405 S. 9th St., died late Tuesday morning at Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness.
She was born Jan. 18, 1881 in Sachsen, Germany, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Christ [Christian] Ashenbach [Aschenbach]. At the age of nine months she came to the United States with her family which settled in the state of Washington and later came to Sheboygan.
She was confirmed in Trinity Lutheran Church May 18, 1894 and April 18, 1898 she married Phillip Burkhardt who preceded her in death. April 20, 1943 she married Matthew Nemanick in Milwaukee and lived there until Mr. Nemanick retired in May 1955. The couple then moved to Sheboygan. In Milwaukee she was a member of the American Legion Ladies' Auxiliary and in Sheboygan she was a member of the golden age club.
Survivors are her husband, five sons, Richard Burkhardt, Elkhart Lake, William, Plymouth, Edgar and Paul of Kiel, and Walter of Sheboygan, 19 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, two brothers, Louis an August Ashenbach of Spokane, Wash., and two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Taves, Oakland, Calif. and Mrs. John Rickert, Mountain, Wis.
In addition to her first husband she was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Ballhorn Funeral Chapels. The Rev. Lloyd Weber, pastor of the Bethel Reformed Church, Ada, officiating with burial on the family lot in Wildwood cemetery
Friends may call at the funeral chapels after 7 p.m. tonight.
