Services for George Washington Smith, 90, of Vanndale were held Dec. 31 in the Good Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Woodrow Wilson officiating. Burial was in Hughes Cemetery in Forrest City.
Mr. Smith died Dec. 28 in Cross County Hospital in Wynne. He was born June 20, 1902 in Corinth, Miss and married Radie Walters on Oct. 23, 1921.
Mr. Smith was a retired farmer and blacksmith and lived in Cross County most of his life He was a Baptist.
He is survived by his wife; one daughter--Myrtle Smith of Vanndale; four sons--Henry of Wynne, Robert of Haines City, Fla. and Joe and Tommy both of Davenport, Fla.
Mr. Smith is also survived by two brothers--John and Willie both of Wynne and by 19 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter--Mary Elizabeth Smith in 1929 and by a son--Irvin Smith in 1936.
