John (Jack) C. Carter, age 87, died on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at his home in Bella Vista, Arkansas. Born in Moline, Kansas on May 27, 1924, the son of Ora Thomas and Verna Goldie (Beu) Carter.

Growing up, John spent his time hunting, playing basketball, and taking care of his sisters, Darlene Rountree and Connie Hale. In adulthood, he was the district manager of supply and distribution for Skelly Oil Company/Getty Oil in Kansas City, Missouri and Tulsa, Oklahoma.

In 1943 at Wichita, KS, John married Imo Jean Elliott, They were married 58 years until her death in 2001.

As a cherished father to Linda Carter-Heath and Mitchell Carter, he shared his love of reading sports, travel, and golf. John was a special grandfather to Andrew and John O. Heath as he taught them about farm life, history, and hard work. His great-grandchildren, Nate, John-Michael, Zoe, and Simon adored his sense of humor and knock-knock jokes. Everyone who knew him enjoyed his laughter and jokes for every occasion.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, May 21, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at Countryside-Zimmerman Funeral Home in Howard, with Pastor Gary Boles officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time, with burial to follow at the Moline City Cemetery.
