Dorothy M. "Dottie" Cooper of Stafford went to be with our Lord on Monday, February 23, 2009.
Even though Miss Cooper never had children of her own, she loved all of the children in her company. Dottie also enjoyed singing, playing with her pets and especially loved Christmas.
She was preceded in death by her parents Earl and Nettie Cooper; her brother, Austin Thomas Cooper, sisters, Katie Virginia Payne and Beatrice Cooper Abel, as well as her nephew, Richard Earl Payne.
Survivors include her sister, Sylvia Sullivan and her husband, Glenn; her brother-in-law, Richard Abel, Sr., and sister-in-law, Donna Cooper; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, including Richard, John and Pamela Abel and Emily Potter all of the home.
There were two churches blessed enough to have known her. She was a member of Ramoth Baptist Church in Stafford for years. She recently began attending Regester Chapel UMC in Stafford where her smiles lit up the front row each Sunday.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 28 at Covenant Funeral Service, Stafford with Rev. Theodore Smith and Rev. Brent Vickery officiating. Interment will follow where she will be laid to rest beside her parents in Ramoth Baptist cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, February 27 at Covenant Funeral Service 1310 Courthouse Rd., Stafford, VA 22554.
Pallbearers will be Richard Abel III, John Abel, Thomas Abel, Benjamin Raines, Jimmy Raines and Jeffrey Sullivan.
