WILLIAM MARRIED 2nd to:
Martha Carpenter abt 1866. She was the daughter of Willis & Elizabeth "Betsy" Ross Carpenter. I have not been able to locate a marriage record; their children:

10. Shadrach Meshach Honea born May 1867 died 8-14-1940 married Bertha S. Perry 2-18-1891 in Madison County Alabama. (Margaret's sister)
11. Lewis Jackson born 1868 - ?
12. Samuel M. born 8-30-1869 died 4-7-1943
13. James Willis born 1870
14. Frank born 1872
15. Hugh born 1874 - ?
16. Emmett - Elijah born 1876 - see below:

The family of Elijah T. Honea state emphatically that he was the son of Martha Carpenter Honea & William Honea. She met him in 1946 when he visited the family in Tennessee.
The name appears to be Emmett. It is difficult to read & likely a mistake of the census taker. See census posted in photo section of his mother's memorial"
We always take the word of a living relative - the best source of information for families.
There is no doubt he is part of our family, we just didn't know about him until February 2017.

Martha died late 1880 - 1881

WILLIAM MARRIED 3rd TO: Margaret (Crow) Mathus born 1819. She was the widow of John Mathews.
There are several variant spelling for the surname Mathews, Mathus, Mathis and literally all three versions of the surname get used. Family stories say that Margaret was a mean step mother & drove the younger children away from home...........

I have not been able to locate Lewis Jackson or Hugh Honea.

We know that three of the Honea brothers went to Texas together with their families around 1900. John Berry & Shadrach Meshach Honea & their wives, the Perry sisters & Elijah T. Honea who first moved to Texas with his brothers & then to Arkansas.

Gravesite Details

Unsure where he & Martha are buried but I believe they are buried on the old homestead in Trenton on private property.
