Stella was the only daughter of David A and Frances Jane Rennels. Both her parents died when she was very young. Her Grandmother, Nancy Carroll Adams and other relatives shared in raising she and her brother Joseph Perry. After moving to Benjamin, Knox County, Texas she met and later married Thomas Edgar Holder about 1900. She had six children. Trudie Lee, her only daughter, passed away before Stella, about 1917 while attending school in Lubbock, Texas. Four sons lived to maturity. She was a devoted homemaker and wife. Stella was an active member of the First Christian Church.
