Shawn Michael Young, 31, of McAlester, died Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at Valley View Hospital in Ada. He was born April 14, 1981, in McAlester, and grew up in Stuart and had lived in Stuart and McAlester virtually all his life. He was a truck driver and worked for several trucking companies in the area for several years. His favorite pastimes were fishing and playing pool. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include one daughter, Rylea Young, of Arkansas; mother and stepfather, Cindy and Ralph Nixon, of McAlester; father, Randy Young; sister, Adrene Davis and her fiancé, Joe Davis, of McAlester; nephew, Payton Davis, of McAlester; one aunt and two uncles, Linda Evans and her husband, Jerry, of Harrah, Steve Morris, of Atwood, Rick Morris, of Stuart, and several cousins and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ralph and Neta Morris. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Stuart Baptist Church with Sherry Cates-McNutt officiating. Burial will be at Pryor Cemetery, Stuart, under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of McAlester. Pallbearers include Adam Tweedel, Matthew Moore, Justin Brown, Tyler Clift, Billy Myskey, Christopher Nixon and Kevin Luker.
