MRS MABEL WILKINSON

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday morning for Mrs. Mabel Wilkinson, 25 S. Hickory St., Mount Carmel, who died Thursday, April 17th in the Ashland Hospital. She had been hospitalized since Palm Sunday [30 March].
Born in Mt. Carmel, November 3, 1887, she was the daughter of the late Cyrus and Laura [Knittle] Evert. Her husband, Leonard, preceded her in death in December 1959.
Mrs. Wilkinson was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Mt. Carmel
Her survivors include two daughters: Laura, wife of Chester Umlauf, of Ashland; Eleanor Wilkinson of Philadelphia; one son, Leonard E., of Prineville, Ore.; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Also three sisters: Mrs. Carrie Karbley, of Harrisburg; Mrs. Lottie Hoffman, of Chester; Mrs. Cyrilla Kessler, of Mt. Carmel.
The funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. from the Willard A. Rothermel Funeral Home, 120 S. Market St., Mt. Carmel. Interment will be in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Rev. H. Rodney Stoner, pastor of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Mt. Carmel, will officiate at the service and will be assisted by the Rev. E. B. Harris [retired] of Mountain Valley Lake.

Mabel Evert, was married on 17 April 1905 to Leonard Alfred Wilkinson (1882-1959).

Mother to:

1. Ruth Alma Wilkinson [1906-1907]

2. Eleanor A. (1909-1954) she did not marry.

3. Leonard Evert (1913-1978) married to Victoria Dempnock. He lived in Prineville, Oregon and was
in the lumber business and a few other ventures. Then settled in California.

4. Laura E. (1916-200) who married Chester W. "Chet" Umlauf (1917-1979).

Mabel was a treasure, a kind and caring person beloved by all the Evert, Chubb and Karbley families. Still talked about with such fondness to this day by family. With husband Leonard they owned a cottage out on Happy Valley Rd, outside Elysburg, Pa., near Knoebels that was the gathering place for the Evert, Chubb, Karbley, Knittle, Umlauf and other related families. She baked pies on the old cottage coal stove for son in law, Chet Umlauf who owned a bakery and delivered them in the Ashland, Schuylkill Co., area, ringing an old bell on his delivery truck. The bell is still a treasured item nailed up on the wall in the old cottage.
