Shantelle Rose Capitain Benally, 18, of Red Wash area, Beclabito, passed from this life on Saturday, May 19, 2012. Shantelle's clan was Salt Water Clan and born for Towering House Clan, her material grandparents are Clamp Tree Clan and paternal grandparents, Many Goats Clan.
Shantelle graduated from Shiprock High School, Class of 2012.
She loved life, loved her family and was very much adored and treasured
She was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Chicago Bulls.
Shantelle loved hip-hop songs and her favorite colors were pink, red, and white. She loved wearing pink flowers in her hair and loved dressing up in traditional clothes.
She adored her friends and had many laughs with them.
Shantelle had dreams of attending college and earning a bachelor degree in law.
She was truly loved by her friend, Zachary Reed, since 8th Grade.
Shantelle was preceded in death by her great-great grandparents, Mae W. Begay and Bob Bekis Begay; her paternal grandfather, Jimmy P. Benally Sr.; her maternal grandmother, Esther Coleman and her Uncle Jimmy P. Benally, Jr.
Shantelle is survived by her parents, Stanford P.C. and Valeria Benally; her brothers, Sterling P.C. Benally, Saymmaer P.C. Benally, Stanford P.C. Benally II; her maternal grandparents; Daniel Van Lee Sr. and Rosemary B. Lee; her uncles, Daniel Van Lee Jr., Victor J. Lee and William Van Lee; her paternal grandmother, Dolores Henry, of Naschitti and Uncle Lawrence P. Benally.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. on Friday, May 25, at Bethel Christian Reformed Church, in Shiprock.
She will be laid to rest at the family burial site at Beclabito, Red Wash.
Reception will follow at Beclabito Chapter House.
Shantelle is in the care of Desert View Funeral Home of Shiprock, North U.S. Hwy. 491, 505-368-4607.
