WINTERSET RESIDENT DIES AT 85 YEARS

Mrs. Mary Schoenenberger's Death Results From Heart Ailment

Mrs. Mary Schoenenberger, life long resident of Winterset and Madison county, died at the Madison County Memorial hospital, last Friday, April 16th at the age of 85 years. Mrs. Schoenenberger had been in poor health with heart trouble for several weeks, but her condition became serious April 11th, and she was taken to the local hospital.

Mary Etta Schoenenberger, a daughter of Samuel and Juliet Callison, was born in the Kasson neighborhood near Lorimor, February 15, 1869 and she attended the rural schools and grew to womanhood in that location. She was married to Henry Schoenenberger, also a member of a pioneer Madison county family, December 18, 1888. They were the parents of five children; a son Lee died at the age of 18 months and Mr. Schoenenberger died in 1926.

The deceased was a member of the Winterset Church of Christ and a long time member of the Pythian Sisters lodge.

She is survived by her four children; Mrs. Louise Reese of Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Ruth Spellman and Mrs. Beatrice Creger of Winterset, and Joseph Schoenenberger of Louisville, Kentucky. She also leaves three grandchildren, Joe A. Schoenenberger of Louisville, John H. Creger, who is now serving with the U. S. army at El Paso, Texas, and Mary Ellen Berg of Winterset and three great grandchildren, Susan, Virginia and William Berg.

Funeral services were conducted at the Richards Funeral home, Monday April 19th at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Warren Hile of the local Church of Christ and interment was in the Lorimor cemetery.
