Mrs. Vaughan

Mrs. Rebecca O. Vaughan, 85, Negro, of 1732 W. Queen Street, Hampton, died Sunday morning in the Fort Monroe Hospital after a long illness.

She had been a resident of the Peninsula for more than 60 years.

Mrs. Vaughan was a member of the Patroness group of the Newport News Alumni Chapter of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. She was a charter member of East End Second Baptist Church.

She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Arnetta Cherry of Long Island, NY, Mrs. Ada Wildy of New York City, Mrs. Alice Robinson of New York City, Mrs. Bernice Jefferies of St. Albuns, Long Island, Mrs. Lois Taylor of Hampton; two sons, George Vaughan of Williamsburg and John Vaughan of Hampton; 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm Tuesday in the Second Baptist Church, East End, led by the Rev. Preston T. Hayes, pastor. Burial will be in the Pleasant Shade Cemetery. The family and friends will meet at the residence at 12:30pm Tuesday.
