Marlys was born July 22, 1915 in Lorimor, Iowa, the daughter of Van A. Garmon and Gladys Lorimor. Marlys was the great granddaughter of Josiah S. Lorimor founder of the town of Lorimor. She graduated from Lorimor High School and on September 4, 1938, she married Clyde R. Kilpatrick in Lorimor. Clyde preceded her in death on January 21, 1995.

Marlys was a homemaker, loving wife and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was also a civic minded individual who was a supporter and leader in the Lorimor community. She was a member of the Lorimor United Methodist Church where she was active in UMW; a member of Eastern Star, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Merry Fu Book Club, the Study Club, the Royal Neighbors, Idle Hour, a Cub Scout Leader, Lorimor PTA member, Lorimor Boosters, Stake IV and the Lorimor Development Corporation.

She is survived by her 2 sons, Jack Kilpatrick and his wife, Maxine, of Lorimor; Larry Kilpatrick and his wife, Shirlee, of Lorimor; 2 daughters-in-law, Nancy Kilpatrick of Centerville and Jerri Kilpatrick of Lorimor; 3 sisters-in-law, Katherine Kilpatrick of Winterset, Harriett Garmon of Iowa and Betty Garmon of Arizona; 4 grandchildren, Kevin, Jaclyn, Calli and Eric; and 4 great-grandchildren, Holly, Rylee, Ben & Gauge.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Eugene Garmon Kilpatrick, who died on November 2, 1994 and three brothers, Lester, Adrian and Nyal.
