Wilma Barker was born Dec. 14, 1919, to Jesse and Ada (Moody) Thurman of Barney (Madison County). She received her education through the eighth grade in the Lorimor School District. On June 29, 1939, she married Norman Barker at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. She was a resident of Union County until 1954, when she moved to Winterset. She moved to South Carolina 10 years ago. Wilma was a member of Society Hill Presbyterian and a former member of the Lorimor Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by her husband, Norman, of Society Hill; a son, Dr. Gary Barker (wife Pat) of Society Hill; two daughters, Phyllis Morrissey (husband Larry) of Carmel, Ind., and Patti Boggess (husband Dick) of Newton; a sister, Erma McDonald of Osceola; and 17 grandchildren.
