O.H. Morgan, Manufacturer, Dies at age of 85
Capt. Otho Herron Morgan, fifty years a resident of Highland Park, for many years a well known manufacturer of Chicago, died Tuesday at his home of pneumonia. He was born Aug. 11, 1838, at Lawrenceburg, Ind. In 1861 he entered the service as lieutenant of the 7th Indiana battery.
In 1866, with Anson C. Potwin, he founded the Chicago Varnish company, of which he was president for fifty-seven years. The first factory stood of what is now the site of the new Fourth Presbyterian Church.
Capt. Morgan was a 32d degree Mason, member of the Loyal Legion, and of the Union League club, and for fifty years a member of the Highland Park Presbyterian church.
