Capt. Abiel Pierce {Benjamin, William, Sommers, William, Thomas, Thomas), b. Mar. 21, 1791 ; m. July 20, 1717, Nancy Holt, b. Nov. 24, 1793, d. Jan. 13, 1828; m. 2nd, Apr. 13, 1830, Hannah K. Manning, b. Sept. 4, 1792, d. Jan. 1, 1878. He d. Nov. 30, 1871. Res. Andover, YT., and Dodge's Corner, Wis. Abiel Pierce was born in Wilton, N. H. When he was four years old his parents moved to Andover, Windsor Co., VT. When old enough to leave home and care for himself he bought a farm in Andover, and remained there until 1838, when he moved to Vernon, Wis., where he lived the remainder of his life. He was Captain of the State Militia for a number of years and was familiarly known as "Captain Pierce." He was one of the first settlers in Waukesha Co., WI.
