On Aug. 18, 1861, she was united in marriage to George Waterman of Freedom. Of this union six children were born. With the exception of one daughter, Mrs. Amy Paker, now deceased. Her children are still living.
Mrs. Waterman spent all her married life on the old Waterman homestead in the town Freedom. On Aug. 14, 1906 her husband passed away. Since that time she has made her home with her children.
The funeral service, which was attended by a large company of relatives and friends was held at the old homestead, the present home of her son John, Wednesday, May 9th at 3 p.m., Rev. D.H. Conrad officiating Members of the Freedom choir sang several old hymns which were special favorites of the deceased.
The many beautiful and fragrant floral tributes which bedecked her casket gave silent expresssion to the sincere love and high esteem in which she was held by a large circle of relatives. The remains were laid to rest by those of her late husband in the Freedom cemetery.
Mrs. Waterman is survived by two brothers, O.S. and E.E. Howlett, both of Freedom, and five children, as follows: Geroge R. Waterman of Ithaca, Mrs. Ida June of Hornell, Mrs. Edith Fenton of Buffalo, John Waterman of Freedom and Mrs. Gertrude Spencer of Franklinville as well as by a large number of more distant relatives who remain to mourn their loss.
