Jefferson Lawson, veteran of Civil War died Monday, February 23, at the home of his brother Ambrose Lawson at Hillview after 2 months illness, at 86. He served as a private in Co. H., 129th IL Inf. from August 9, 1862 to June 8, 1865.

Mr. Lawson son of Severe Lawson and Cynthis Gardner, was born in Scott Co., IL, August 12, 1844. Married to Delilah Cox after return from the Army. Twenty years of married life spent in White Hall. Surviving children: Charles of Michigan and Mrs.Sallie Flanagan, White Hall, also left three half-brothers, Ambrose, Stephen & Spencer Lawson all of Greene Co., IL. Funeral at Hillview Baptist church, burial in Pine Tree Cemetery.

Thomas Jefferson, married (1) Delilah Cox,daughter of Rice Cox and Isabel Taylor 23 November 1865, Greene co., IL. To this marriage was born: Alice Jeanette, John Henry, Charles, Sarah and Nora Ellen.
