They owned and operated the Harrington Tire Co. at the intersection of Yosemite and Gateway in Madera. They also owned the Redwood Hut Restaurant next door. She was a former member of the Madera Foot Lighters, an entertainment group with the Women's Improvement Club in Madera, the Madera Republican Women and the Madera Golf and Country Club. She was also a current life member of the Madera County Historical Society and life member of the Marine Memorial Association of San Francisco. In the 1980's and 1990's, she resided in Stockton and was active in community affairs, moving to Fresno in 2002 to be near her daughter.
She is preceded in death by her husband's, Carroll S. Harrington and Boyd O'Brien. She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Harrington of Madera; and her great-nephew, Chet Harrington and his wife Barbara of Prather, Ca.
A Graveside Funeral Service will be held at Arbor Vitae Cemetery, Madera, Ca, on Friday, May 25, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Jay Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the Madera County Historical Society, P. O. Box 150, Madera, Ca 93639 or the donor's favorite charity.
