Lauren J. Adams, formerly Lorrie Brekke, 42, a resident of Davenport, died unexpectedly Monday, May 21, 2012, at Trinity Rock Island. Her passing is attributed to complications of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and more recently a diagnosis of additional cancer. Lauren was a courageous and determined fighter; she had a procedure Monday to help her quality of life that ran into unforeseen complications.

Services to celebrate her life will be noon Friday, May 25, in the All Faith Chapel at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main St., downtown Davenport. The family will greet friends Friday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Following her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.

Lorrie Jo Brekke was born Dec. 29, 1969, in Davenport. She was a 1987 graduate of Bettendorf High School, and then continued her education for a career in nursing. She later completed her master's degree.

She was united in marriage to Randy D. Adams on Sept. 18, 2010, in Davenport.

Lauren began a career in nursing working for Trinity Hospital and Clinics at both the Rock Island and Bettendorf locations. She most recently has been a unit secretary at the Bettendorf location. Her work ethic was incredible; in addition to her duties at the hospital she also co-owned and co-managed the Creekside Bar & Grill. She enjoyed the bar and all the friends she met while working. It was a labor of love!

Memorials can be made to Gilda's Club of the Quad Cities or to the Scott County Humane Society.

Lorrie is survived by her husband, Randy, Davenport; her children, Stephen (Mary) Both, Davenport, Kaitlyn Both, Phoenix, Ariz., Ryan (Amanda) Both, Morgan Priester, both of Davenport, a grandson, Austin; Erik (Talia) Adams, Davenport; grandchildren, Christian and Josey Adams, Monica (Josh) Adams, Davenport; grandchildren, Elisa, Shawna and Ralph; her father, Randall (Diane) Brekke, Bettendorf; her mother, Margie Doty; her grandmother, Marge White; her siblings, Matt (Dallas) Brekke, Mike (Christina) Brekke, Chris Brekke, Debra (Bob) Williams, Rodger H.
