Samuel served as a Technical Sergeant on B-25D Mitchell (#41-30573), 2nd Bomber Squadron, 22nd Bomber Group, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in Montgomery County, Maryland prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on June 5, 1940, prior to the war.

Samuel died in the "Line Of Duty" when his B-25 was involved in a mid-air collision with another B-25 over the Dohudura airfield, New Guinea, during formation training and the twin engined medium bomber tumbled to earth, claiming the lives of all seven aboard.

The other B-25 landed without casualties.

At the families request, his state of birth was added to his headstone (New York) instead of his state of residence (Maryland).
