Funeral Services For D.O. Hawley Jan. 29

Funeral services for D.O. Hawley, 83, were held Sunday at 2:30 from the Congregational church of Arcadia, with Rev. E.T. Gunsolley, pastor of the church, and Rev. C. W. Buehler, officiating. Burial was in the family plot in the Arcadia cemetery.

Mr. Hawley, one of the early residents of the Arcadia vicinity, who died very suddenly at his home here Thursday, was born at Rawley, Iowa, November 27, 1866, and came to Arcadia, Nebraska, in 1878. He was married to Hallie Beagle on June 12, 1889, and to this marriage six children were born, two boys and four girls, two of whom preceded their father in death. Mrs. Hawley died in 1915. On September 1, 1926, Mr. Hawley was married to Letha Weddel. He is survived by his wife, Letha, his children, 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and many other relatives.

He was a member of the Congregational church having joined on July 12, 1903. He served on the board of trustees in 1905 and after his election as deacon in 1919, he served in that capacity for 30 years. He was also a member of the Modern Woodmen of America for several years.
