Private Samuel McClure was captured at the battle of Chancellorsville on May 3rd 1863. Private McClure would be confined in Richmond on May 9th and then paroled at City Point, Virginia on May 14th 1863. On May 16th, he would report to Camp Parole in Annapolis, Maryland and by May 20th, he was in Washington D.C. It would not be until September that he would return to his regiment. He would be discharge at the expiration of his term of service on September 30th 1864 during the Siege of Petersburg.
