James Thedford Massey

SETH - James Thedford "Ted" Massey, 75, of Seth, Boone County, died May 21, 1997, at home after a long illness.

He was retired director of the wage and hour section and a field supervisor from the state Division of Labor. He was a member of Church of Christ, Seth, a licensed funeral director, and a graduate of the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. He was an Army veteran, a recipient of the Purple Heart, and a member of VFW Post 3378, Madison, American Legion Post 200, and Disabled American Veterans. He was recognized by Gov. Jay Rockefeller as an Outstanding West Virginian.

Surviving: wife, daughter, two sons,three granddaughters; three great-grandchildren.

Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Church of Christ, Seth, with Minister Frank Shepard officiating. Burial, with graveside military rites by VFW Post 3379, will be in Pineview Cemetery, Orgas. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today and one hour prior to service at the church. Valley Funeral Home, Whitesville, is in charge of arrangements
