From the Belleville Advocate, Monday, 31 Mar 31 1942, page 1 "Mrs. George Lehman Dies, 75 years old; Funeral Tomorrow
Mrs. Elizabeth Lehman, wife of George Lehman, prominent retired farmer and truck gardener, died at 8:55 Saturday night at the family home on Lebanon road, just northeast of Belleville. Death was due to a heart ailment and the infirmities of age after a 15 months'illness. She would have been 76 years old on Wednesday.
Born at Frankfort-on-the-Main, Germany, April 2, 1865, she was a daughter of Conrad and Caroline Illig Dern, coming to the United States when six months old.
She had been married to Lehman on March 18, 1890, the couple having observed the golden anniversary of the wedding last year.
Surviving are the widower; five daughters and two sons, Melinda, wife of Frank Roehrig, Mascoutah; Adela, wife of Nic Bossler, Shiloh Valley; Flora, wife of Walter Bress, Troy; Clementine, wife of Earl Compton, Belleville; Elsa, wife of Oscar Hanselman, St Louis; Walter Lehman, Cedar Rapids, Ia and Oscar Lehman, Lebanon road; eight grandchildren; a half brother and a half sister, Mrs. Philip Gemin and Henry Damm, both of Belleville.
Mrs. Lehman was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical church and the Women's Guilde of that congregation.
Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Renner-Geminn-Bergman funeral home. Rev. B. J. Koehler will officiate with interment in Walnut Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Adam Heineman, Ethel Compton, John Schobert, Clarence Wagner, Michael Bossler and Charles Goetz."
