Ira was born in Burlington, Illinois, the son of John B. and Grace Irene (Kinnick) Seyller. He married Mary L. (unknown) Seyller and had two children; John H. (Bus) and Michael. Ira worked for the Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad when he lived in Galesburg in the 1920's and 1930's. He was a lineman for Wyoming Electric, he owned a ranch north of Cheyenne. He lived in Cheyenne in the 1950's and moved to San Diego area, California after 1960, where he was until he died.
