Fredrick "Dudley" Schutte, 81, died Feb. 6 at Hays Medical Center in Hays. He was born May 20, 1920, at McCracken, the son of George Orlando and Lottie Bell Blake Schutte.

He married Florence Wilhelm Nov. 12, 1943, at Paso Robles, Calif. A lifelong resident of Rush County, he owned a radio and TV repair service for more than 30 years, and was city
manager of La Crosse for 10 years. Schutte was a member of United Methodist Church in La Crosse and the American Legion. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, where he received the American Campaign medal, Good Conduct medal and the World War II Victory medal.

Survivors include his wife of the home; three sons, Thomas Schutte of Pretty Prairie, Mark Schutte of Wichita and Mike Schutte of Hays; one brother, James Schutte of Great Bend; and two grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Janousek Funeral Home Chapel in La Crosse, with the Rev. Marilyn Christmore officiating. Burial will be at La Crosse City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Northwest Kansas Stroke Support Group of Hays, in care of the funeral home.
