James E. (Ed) Swansen, Jr., 50, who lived most of his lifetime in Klamath Falls and a prominent Klamath Falls businessman, died Tuesday April 5, in Santa Barbara, Calif. He had been in failing health for some time, leaving Klamath Falls for the lower climate in June 1959 to benefit a heart condition. He was a native of Los Angeles, born March 26, 1910.

He owned and operated the Swansen Barber and Beauty Shop, 623 Main Street and owned the building the business occupied. He sold to J.C. Whistler when the family left for California. Whistler had been associated with the business for about 20 years.

He was a member of St. Pauls Episcopal Church, the Klamath Falls Rotary Club, Klamath Falls Lodge, 1247, BPO Elks and the Klamath County Chamber of Commerce.

Survivors include the widow, Elizabeth of Santa Barbara; four children, Diana a teacher at Carmel, Robert, Marilyn and Margaret Swansen at home, and two brothers, Dr. Merle H. Swansen, Klamath Falls, and Verne Swansen of Santa Barbara.

It is expected the funeral will be held in Santa Barbara.
