OBITUARY

Reba Childress Mangelsdorf, 88, of Lynchburg, formerly of Roanoke, passed away Feb. 1, 2006.
She resided in Clayton, N.M., where she taught school for many years and was a member of Clayton United Methodist Church. Moving back to Virginia, she became a member of Thrasher Memorial United Methodist Church in Vinton. She was a 1941 graduate of Radford University with a B.A. degree in literature. After moving to Colorado, she graduated from the University of Colorado with a degree in education and literature. She then received her master's in education from the University of New Mexico. She taught school in Virginia, Carbondale, Colorado, Clayton N.M. and Sedan, N.M., and high school at Texline, Texas.
Reba and Henry Louis Mangelsdorf married August 20, 1950 in Clayton, Union County, New Mexico.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry L. Mangelsdorf, who died in 1991; her father and mother, Rufus S. Childress and Anna Lous Childress; brother, Roger W. Childress and wife, Ruth; and brother, Edward A. Childress.
Surviving are one sister and her husband; a sister-in-law and her husband; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted from Thrasher Memorial United Methodist Church on Feb. 4, 2006 with the Rev. Robin L. Colwell officiating. Burial in Evergreen Burial Park.
