Mr. Henry "Glen" Hawks, 80, of 456 Imogene Road, Lambsburg, VA, widower of Brenda Lee Golding Hawks, passed away Sunday, May 20, 2012, at his home. He was born August 9, 1931, in Carroll County, VA, to the late Earl and Eliza Surratt Hawks. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Hawks retired from Bassett Furniture and was a member of Lambsburg Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Vicky and Blas Marla-cruz of Lambsburg, VA; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael Todd and Linda Hawks; five grandchildren, Christopher Shawn Hawks, Joshua Andrew Hawks, Matthew Brandon Hawks, Danneka Nicole Merla-cruz, and Channing Blas Merla-cruz, all of Lambsburg, VA; two great-grandchildren, Sora Blayze Shelton of Mount Airy and and Kaebry Harper Broyles of Cana, VA; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Hawks was preceded in death by a son, Rodney Glen Hawks; three sisters, Bernell McCraw, Margie Francis, and Elizabeth Hawks; and three brothers, Clyde, Orville, and Albert Hawks. The funeral service will be held Friday, May 25, 2012, at 12:00 noon at New Beginnings Community Church, with the Rev. Wes Mosteller officiating. Burial will follow in the Surratt Family Cemetery, with military rites by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at New Beginnings Community Church, where Mr. Hawks will remain until the time of the funeral service.
