A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 20, 2008, at First United Methodist Church of Gastonia with Dr. James Westmoreland and Rev. C.B. Barr officiating. A graveside service will be from 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 20, 2008, Webbs Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Denver, NC. The family will receive friends Sunday, April 20, 2008, in the church parlor, after the service.
Mary Neil was born in Lincolnton in 1917 and graduated from Rock Springs High School. Following her marriage in 1936 to James Bisanar, she moved to Gastonia where she resided until her death. Mary Neil was a homemaker, noted for her beautiful yard and flowers. She was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church in Gastonia and its Claude Moser Sunday School class. The family would like to thank the staff of Morningside Assisted Living and Gaston Hospice for their compassion and care during the final stages of Mary Neil's illness.
Survivors are her son and daughter-in-law, Robert M. Bisanar and wife, Sandra of Charlotte, daughter and son-in-law, Judy Stuart Weiss and husband, Thomas of Raleigh; grandchildren; Gregory Stuart, Jeffrey (Julie) Stuart; great grandson, Nicholas Stuart; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James M. Bisanar, brother, Elliot Howard, two sisters; Avis Edwards and Pinkie Kiser.
Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to the First United Methodist Church of Gastonia, 190 E. Franklin Blvd., Gastonia, NC 28054 or to Gaston Hospice, 258 E. Garrison Blvd., Gastonia, NC 28054. Arrangements are handled by McLean Funeral Directors.
