Marion Anthony "Tony" Saverance, 69, died Saturday, March 5, 2011 after a battle with cancer. A graveside service will be Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at 3:00 p.m. in the Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be today (Monday) March 7, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Mr. Saverance was born in Timmonsville, the son of the late Marion Thomas and Mamie Elizabeth Lockhart Saverance. He was employed by the Florence County Environmental Services for more than 20 years. He was one of the first members of the Timmonsville Rescue Squad. He was instrumental in the development of the Sardis-Timmonsville Fire Dept. and served as a board member. Survivors are his wife of 46 years, Betty Wade Saverance, Timmonsville; a daughter, Laura (J.D.) S. Coleman, Lynchburg; grand-daughter, Kayce Leigh Coleman. He is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Aimee Celeste Saverance and his sister, Dianne S. Kennedy.
