Mrs.Elizabeth E. Mills, widow of A.H.Mills,prominent lawyer and civic leader, died in her home at 456 W Decatur street at 7:30 pm yesterday. Mrs. Mills who was 85 years old had been in failing health for several months but had been confined to her bed only week before her death.
Funeral services will be held at the Dawson & Wikoff chapel at 4 pm Tuesday.Burial will be in the Greenwood cemetery. Friends may call at the family residence.
Her husband Mr.Mill was an attorney here for many years and was active in civil affairs. He was one of the early presidents of the Millikin university board of managers and served as a leader in the beginning of the Decatur Y. M. C.A. He was one of the most influential person in its organization and in securing the present Y. M. C.A. building.
A resident of Decatur for 58 years, Mrs. Mills undtil her health failed was an active member of the First Presbyterian church and she and her late husband taught Sunday school classes there for more than 50 years.
The daughter of Rev.and Mrs.William C. Bell she was born near White Hall, Ill, June 1,1854 and was married to Andrew H. Mills in Lincoln on Jan 2,1877. They moved to Decatur in 1881 after having lived in Lincoln and Waverly. Mr.Mills died Sept 1,1929.She leaves three sons,Dr.Ralph G.Mills and Hubert Mills,both of Decatur and Harold E.Mills of St. Louis Park Minn. and two daughters, Mrs. Judith Bone and Mrs. Helen Magill both of Decatur. A sister Miss Edith Bell also of Decatur survives.There are 12 grandchildren.
