He married Verna Miles Jan. 20, 1949, in Elwood, Neb. A resident of Lexington, coming from Hays, he was former manager of the J.C. Penny Department Store in Hays from 1955
until his retirement in 1965, when he started a construction company building duplexes and apartments in Hays.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Bob Blankenship of Phoenix, Ariz., and Mark Blankenship of Reno, Nev.; one daughter, Marilyn Fairbairn of Garden City; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Jack
Blankenship; two brothers, Carman Blankenship and Paul Blankenship; two sisters, Mary Brokaw and Vera Motzek; and one grandson, Kyle Fairbairn.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Seventh-Day Adventist Church in La Crosse, with the Rev. Pat Scott officiating. Burial will be at La Crosse City Cemetery.
