Benjamin F. McRoberts, better known as Fish, died at his home in Dana on the 26th ult. He was a young man being only 37 years of age. In 1886 he was married to Clara A. Elder of Dana, who passed away about a year ago. By this union he came into possession of 240 acres of Helt Township's best land. Fish was not as fortunate as some in business affairs, and at his death had a mortgage of $2300 on his farm, besides owing in the neighborhood of $700 outside of the mortgage.

He left 3 brothers and 3 sisters, and there was considerable interest as to how he would dispose of his property. He made a short Will on August 26, 1898, and also made 4 deeds on November 16, 1898, just 10 days before his death. They are queer instrument. Two of his brothers, Scott and John, and one sister, Mrs. Lizzie Farris, received nothing.

He made Samuel Elder, his brother-in-law, Executor of his estate. He leaves him all his personal property and undivided 1/7 interest of Lots 11 & 12 in Aikman's addition to be used to pay his debts.

The rest of the property is disposed of by 4 deeds. One deed was made to Nancy J. Kaufman. Miss Nancy was his sweetheart and would have become his wife had he lived. They were to have wed October 5, but Fish took down sick, postponing the event. He deeded her 80 acres. Another deed of 65 acres was made to his brother, Ed McRoberts, one of 40 acres to Mesdames O.N. Ayers and E.F. McCown, his sisters jointly.
