______
Mrs. Sarah L. Goodwin, widow of John Stacey Goodwin of this town, died at the home of her son, William Goodwin, 11 Fairmount street, Salem, where for the last few years she has made her home, on Thursday evening of last week, at the age of eighty years.
Mrs. Goodwin was one of the oldest members of the Methodist Church in this town, but had attended the Advent Church since living in Salem, that being nearer to her home. She was active in the work of this church and also in the Woman's Christian Temperance Union, and the King's Daughters, being a member of both organizations. She had been in comparatively good health up to a few days of her death, making frequent visits to Marblehead, and only a few weeks ago celebrated her eightieth birthday by receiving a number of her friends and relations at her home in Salem.
Three children survive her, Mr. Joseph Goodwin of Beverly, Mr. William Goodwin of Salem and Mrs. William L. Gilley of this town, also six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at her late home on Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. William G. Knowlton of the Advent Christian Church, assisted by Rev. Thomas G. Langdale of the South Church, a friend and neighbor of the family. The quartet of the Advent Church rendered several selections. The King's Daughters also held their service at the house. The floral tributes were many and beautiful. Interment was at Waterside Cemetery, the bearers being her five grandsons, Messrs. Harry, Clifford, Everett and John Goodwin of Beverly and William L. Gilley, Jr. of this town.
