She was born on Nov. 3, 1925, in Gorham, the daughter of Edward and Alfreda Walker Strout. Katie was a graduate of Gorham High School class of 1944. Over the years she had worked for Sferes Grocery Store and Siciliano's Drug Store of Little Falls, Fairchilds of South Portland and Bonon Footwear of Auburn. Katie was a former captain of the South Windham Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and was a member of the Pythian Sisters. Katie enjoyed beano, hunting, fishing and ice cream.
She was predeceased by her husband, Laurence Borge Sr.; a son, Laurence Borge Jr.; a grandson, Dana Borge; several brothers and sisters; and her two dogs, Cleo and Flossie. Survivors include her son, Martin E. Borge and his partner Gail Forbes of Gainesville, Fla., daughters, Sharon Anthony and her husband Allen of Poland, and Carolyn Borge of Cranston, R.I.; a sister, Ruth Bennett of South Portland; eight grandchildren; and 14 great- grandchildren.
The family would like to give a special thanks to her daughter- in-law, Stella Borge and her granddaughter, Pauline Clark and to the Hospice House of Auburn for their excellent care of Katie and her son, Laurence Jr. An hour of visitation will be held on Monday, June 28, at the Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Rd., Windham, from 10-11 a.m. A funeral service will follow at the chapel at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery.
