LEON H. CARROLL DIES IN SALT LAKE HOSPITAL

Funeral Services at Vernal First Ward Chapel Saturday at 1 p.m. Passed Away Wednesday Following Appendicitis Operation Last Week.

Leon Rosamond Hardy Carroll, wife of DeVere Carroll, manager of the Vernal branch of the Sterling Transportation Company, succumbed of complications following an operation for appendicitis at the LDS hospital in Salt Lake on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Vernal First Ward Chapel under the direction of the bishopric.

She took seriously ill on February 11 and on February 12, Mrs. Carroll was taken to Salt Lake for better hospitalization than can be given in Vernal. Dr. Weldon K. Bullock accompanied her.

The operation was performed on the morning of the 13th and from the start it was realized it was a severe sase of poison in the blood stream. Twelve physicians from the Salt Lake Clinic consulted twice each day on the case.

Leon Rosemond Hardy Carrol was born in Vernal, June 19, 1905, the daughter of Albert A. and Clara Griffin Hardy. She was a graduate of the Uintah High School taking part in many of the school activities, where she had a host of friends.

In 1924 she married DeVere Carroll and they were prominent in the social activities of the younger set. They have one child Bert Lloyd, five years old, who survives.

Besides her husband and son the deceased is survived by her parents of Manila, two sisters, Mrs. Wilda "Billy" Brimhall of Gallup, New Mexico and Alberta Hary, Manila and one brother Glenn Hardy of Manila. Mr. Hardy is a Ranger in the Ashley National Forest with headquarters at Lewis Allen and has worked in this field for many years.
