Joseph DeVere Carroll was born on Jul. 9, 1900 at Vernal, Uintah County, Utah to Joseph Hyrum Carrol and Annie Lewis Carroll.
In 1924 DeVere married Leon Rosemond Hardy and they were prominent in the social activities of the younger set. They had one child Bert Lloyd.
DeVere Carroll was manager of the Vernal branch of the Sterling Transportation Company. His wife, Leon took seriously ill on February 11 and on February 12, Mrs. Carroll was taken to Salt Lake for better hospitalization than could be given in Vernal and they found it was a bad case of blood poisoning and she died on February 20th, 1935.
On July 12, 1936 DeVere married Golda Massey at Kansas City, Missouri. They one son Howard Rex.
He died on Feb. 14, 1989 at Vernal, Utah and buried at Vernal Memorial Park Cemetery.
