Robert I. Moore was a wealthy merchant with commercial interests in Nashville, Tennessee and a large plantation, Mooreland, in Brentwood, Williamson County just south of Nashville; he had twelve children with three wives.
Mooreland, his home, stayed in his family until 1944. As the area grew into the Village of Brentwood, the house remained residential until about the early 1970's when it was adapted for commercial use. Since about 2014 the home has served as an annex fronting a new Hilton hotel.
