Caroline L. Newhouse Schapker Age 47, of Indianapolis, passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2005. She was born on May 31, 1957 to Jerald A. and Rosemarie Wiseman Newhouse. She grew up in Evansville, IN and graduated from Evansville Reitz High School in 1975. Caroline earned her B.S. in psychology at Indiana University in 1979 and a Master's Degree in college administration at I.U. in 1983. During her years in graduate school, she studied abroad at Harlaxton Manor, the British campus of the University of Evansville in Oxford, England. She moved to Indianapolis in 1988 and joined the staff of Right Associates as a career planner in 1991. Caroline left her position as a vice president with the firm in 1994 when her first child was born, and devoted the next 10 years to raising her children, Claire Rosemarie and Michael David Schapker. The family is a longtime member of St. Simon the Apostle Catholic Parish, and when the children entered school, it was at St. Simon School. Caroline was past secretary and president of the school's Parent Faculty Organization (PFO), where she chaired the Walk-A-Thon, cookbook project, bookfair, grade school career day, and the open house and hospitality committees. Since her first child started school at St. Simon, she has always been a room mother. Caroline also was active in St. Simon Parish. She was an active volunteer at the Summer Festival and Royal Extravaganza, as well as served as a group leader with the Ministry of Moms. Caroline is survived by her husband, David A. Schapker; her children, Claire Rosemarie and Michael David Schapker; her father, Jerald A. Newhouse; and her parents-in-law, Mary Ann and Oliver D. Schapker. She also is survived by two sisters, Lisa J. (Mike) Lubbers and Theresa M. (Bob) Morin; three brothers-in-law, Steven M. (Janet) Schapker, Daniel J. (Maria) Schapker and Robert E. (Julie) Schapker; and a sister-in-law, Jane A. Schapker. Caroline was preceded in death by her mother, Rosemarie Wiseman Newhouse. Visitation will take place Friday, February 25, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Fishers-Castleton Chapel, 9900 Allisonville Rd. Services will be held Saturday, February 26, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Simon the Apostle Catholic Church, with burial at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, 9001 Haverstick Road, Indianapolis. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to St. Simon School, 8155 Oaklandon Road, Indianapolis, 46236.
