Alton Reed Owens, 67, of Mexia, passed away Friday, May 30, 2008, at Providence Hospital in Waco.
Family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Porter Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 1, at Old Bethel Cemetery in Limestone County.
Alton was born Feb. 19, 1941, in Fallon to Opie and Ella Owen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Opie and Ella Owen; brothers, Elton Owen and Bill Wedgeman; and sisters, Hazel Owen and Louise Wedgeman.
He is survived by his sons, Al Owens and wife Shae of Hillsboro, Mike Owens and wife Laura of Marquette and Richard Owens of Mexia; daughter, Sherry Tarkington and husband Brad of Mexia; 13 grandchildren; brothers, George Owen, Glen Owen, Billy Joe Owen, Alvis Wedgeman, Clifton Wedgeman, Henry Owen, Doc Owen, Jessie Owen, Gary Owen and James Owen.
