"Erika White died Feb. 1, 2005 at Heritage of Bel-Air. She was born April 22, 1942, in Dietershof, Germany, to Rudolph and Emma (Biese) Harbart. They immigrated in 1950 after living in Germany as war refuges. They moved to Ponca and Winside before coming to Norfolk. On Dec. 22, 1964, she married Keith White Jr. at Christ Lutheran Church. They later divorced.
She was survived by 1 daughter, 2 sons, her mother, 1 brother, 1 sister, and 10 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, one brother and one sister."
NOTE: Erika's family lived in the village of Teodorowo in the Republic of Poland (although they were part of the large German diaspora living there). In 1939, Germany invaded Poland and annexed a large swath of the country. In the annexed territories, all towns were renamed to rid them of the Polish language. Teodorowo was renamed Dietershof at that time, which is why Erika's birth record shows Dietershof, Germany. After the war, the village reverted to its original name (Tedorowo, Poland). Please see Erika's father's memorial for more information.
