Stan was the second son of Roy A. Meadows and his wife, Mary L. Clough. Stan was in the US Army-Air Corps during World War II. He piloted c-47s. Stan was killed in an air crash in Naper, Nebraska in what is believed to be the worst accident in terms of loss of life in a single plane crash with twenty-eight deaths; during World War II on August 3, 1944.
