Colonel Charles R. Simpson of 36 Beechwood Place, Hillside, NJ, died at 11:15 a.m. Friday November 24, 1978 at his home.
He was born June 13, 1883 at Huntingdon, a son of James and Jennie (Brown) Simpson and was united in marriage to former Helen Brown on January 31, 1914.
His wife survives along with the following children: James of Bay Head, NJ; William of Williamsburg, NJ; Elizabeth Hunt of Los Angeles, CA; and Helen Tracy Of Hillside, NJ. Sixteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive.
Mr. Simpson was the last surviving member of his immediate family, having been preceded in death by four brothers and one sister,
He was a member of the Westminster Church of Elizabeth, NJ and served as a colonel in the US Army Air Force during World War II.
He was graduated from The Mercersburg Academy in 1901 and Princeton Academy in 1905.
Graveside services will take place in Riverview cemetery at 10 a. m. Wednesday, November 29, with the Rev. Harold G. Williams officiating. Friends will be received at the John B. Brown funeral home On Tuesday, November 28, from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m.
