Eventually, Harry moved with his family to Keene, where he began employment in the early 1890s as a railroad freight clerk. Harry would eventually meet and marry Minnie Flora Hadley in Lowell Massachusetts, in 1893 and the couple resided in Keene for the rest of their lives.
Harry was active in City government, being a Railroad Policeman as well as a Councilman and Alderman.
In his Will he bequeathed the sum of $100.00 to the City in order that his gravesite be maintained in perpetuity. This is (was) known as the Harry B Muchmore Cemetery Fund.
Harry and Minnie were the proud parents of three sons and four daughters, with one daughter dying in infancy. Their children went on to become active community leaders as well.
