SYRACUSE - Betty H. Epert, 82, formerly of Ligonier, passed away on Friday, May 18, 2012, at 3:30 p.m. in her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on Sept. 29, 1929, in Ligonier to Frank and Leona (Madison) Eycheson. She married Arthur C. Epert January 6, 1950, and he survives. Betty had lived in Ligonier until her retirement in 1991, at which time she moved to Lake Wawasee. She retired from Silgan Plastics after 35 years of service and was a member of Wawasee Lakeside Chapel, and she was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include her husband, Arthur C. Epert of Lake Wawasee; three children, Arthur R. (Melanie) Epert of Ligonier, Roxie (Dan) Lyon of Cromwell, Shelly McKee of Syracuse; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, James Philip Epert in 1956; her parents and two brothers, Robert and John Eytcheson. A funeral service will be held in her honor on Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at 1 p.m. at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, IN 46767. Pastor Harlan Steffen will officiate. Burial will take place at Oak Park Cemetery in Ligonier. A visitation will be held on Monday, May 21, 2012, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Yeager Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be directed to Wawasee Lakeside Chapel or the American Alzheimer's Association. The Yeager Funeral Home in Ligonier is assisting the family with arrangements.
